About Us

Just Vote Colorado is not affiliated with or promoting any issue or candidate.

Established in 2004, Just Vote Colorado (formerly Fair Vote Colorado) is a collaborative non-partisan election protection program to monitor, document and assist voters with election activities. For the past two general election cycles, JVC has reached hundreds of thousands of voters statewide, with a focus on the metro Denver area. JVC has received the support of both major political parties, and has been relied upon by non-profit organizations and the media for accurate election information. Building on the success of 2004, in 2006 we received more than 20,000 calls on Election Day and more than one million visits to our website. After each general election, we analyzed voters’ experiences and issued a post-election report with policy recommendations, more than half of which were adopted by the Colorado Legislature.

This year’s election will be high-profile and draw greater attention than many elections in years past. This heightened interest, coupled with the changes in election administration, will require increased outreach to make sure that all Coloradans are able to participate. We will also work to support election administrators by recruiting election judges, an ongoing deficit for all of the metro Denver counties.

To address these pressing issues we have organized a diverse steering committee. In addition to Jenny Flanagan and Elena Nunez with Colorado Common Cause, the steering committee members include Dusti Gurule of the Latina Initiative, Faith Gross with the Legal Center for People with Disabilities and Older People, Gerry Cummins and Carol Tone from the League of Women Voters of Colorado and Dan Sweetser representing the Colorado Lawyers Committee.

JVC partners with Election Protection, the nation’s largest nonpartisan voter protection coalition, led by the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law. Through its 1-866-OUR-VOTE Hotline (1-866-687-8683) and dedicated team of legal experts and trained volunteers, Election Protection helps all American voters, including traditionally disenfranchised groups, gain access to the polls and overcome obstacles to voting, offering live assistance. The coalition has more than 100 partners at the national, state and local level, and is providing live voter protection services now through Election Day for all 50 states.
